Reader Reviews
"An unforgettable romance filled with suspense and intense emotion. Sydney's courageous fight for survival and freedom had me hooked from page one. The writing is breathtaking!"
"I couldn't put this book down! The romance sizzles and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. Get away & don’t look back handles serious issues with such sensitivity, making Sydney's story incredibly moving."
"I had a blast with Sydney and the boxers at the Drake Club. Her pretending to be a boy was such a fun twist-it's a refreshing change from typical romances. The themes of violence against women and homophobia are handled with care and are truly touching.
"A beautiful novel about the courage and strength of women to overcome abuse and rebuild their lives. And the love story is absolutely heart-warming! I recommend it 1000%."
About me
I was born in Versailles, near Paris, into a family where words were practically sacred. Not too surprising, considering both my parents were literature teachers! Growing up surrounded by books, it was almost inevitable that I’d develop a passion for languages. After mastering French, I quickly developed a soft spot for German, the language my grandmother spoke, which I later taught as an adult. Then came English, which completely swept me off my feet during my year in Hitchin, England. Let’s just say it was love at first hello. :-)
My journey as a writer began on my eighth birthday when, instead of the Barbie I had been dreaming of, my parents surprised me with a typewriter. At first, I was disappointed, but that faded fast as I discovered the magic of bringing characters to life through words. From that moment on, dolls became a distant memory, and my passion for crafting stories filled with emotion and meaning took root—and has only grown stronger over time.
After studying literature, I spent twenty fulfilling years as a teacher, guiding students through the beauty of language. But eventually, the call to explore new horizons was too strong to resist. Today, I’ve embraced a new chapter as a novelist and writing workshop facilitator. Sure, my books are here to entertain readers, but for me, writing is also about making the world a better place (apparently, no one told me often enough as a kid that girls can’t be superheroes ;-). It’s a big challenge, and while I’m not sure I can tackle it alone, I’m certainly giving it my best shot.
I’m passionate about taking a stand—whether it’s challenging the patriarchy, fighting sexism, or advocating for respect, tolerance, and kindness. That’s what drives me. Laughter, especially at myself, has also become my go-to survival strategy. As for the everyday stuff, I’m all about life’s simple pleasures—good food, great company, and savoring every moment. Oh, and let’s not forget my love for books, TV shows, chocolate, and cats (especially mine)!
